Telfar is celebrating the first day of Eid by bringing back their Eid Unity Sale, pledging 100% net profits to several charitable organizations.
Starting on Saturday, March 21, the Black-owned brand known for their tote bags promises to distribute every dollar to Black Alliance for Peace, the D12 Movement, All African Peoples Revolutionary Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the Sudanese Resistance Front, and the Palestinian Youth Movement.
Telfar tapped Yasiin Bey for a promotional video for the sale. “Peace, human beings, this is Yasiin Bey,” he begins. “This year, in commemoration of Eid, Telfar is donating 100 percent of its profits to the liberation of our people. Our people in Rikers, Gaza, Sudan, Congo and anywhere where people are being oppressed because freedom is everybody’s job. This is beyond charity, it’s solidarity. If you cannot buy a bag, please pay attention because that is far more valuable.”
The brand did something similar in 2024 for Eid, previously donating 10 percent of profits to Palestinian charities. Since then, the brand has only continued to expand, even opening its first flagship store on New York’s iconic Canal Street the same year.
Telfar also recently showed their cheeky side by trolling Fear of God, dropping a collection called “Fear of Job.” Riffing off the brand’s Essentials line, Telfar released a run of shirts and sweatshirts that start at $70. There appears to be no bad blood, however. In a statement to Highsnobiety, Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo said he “talked and laughed” about it with Telfar Clemens. “We're both independent designers that design with a fear to work for someone else," he explained. “Beyond that, the play on what else it could mean to other people is what makes it funny.”
