Drake's gold and diamond Rolex GMT Master II that he wore on the cover of his landmark 2011 album Take Care has sold for $500,000.

According to WatchPro, the timepiece, which was sold through Palm Beach-based vintage watch specialist Wind Vintage, went for $400,000 more than its normal market value.

The watch was listed for $500,000 and immediately received four offers when it went up for sale. It eventually sold for its full list price, which is approximately five times higher than the median dealer price for the watch.

Outside of appearing on the cover for Take Care, Drake also wore the watch in the music video for the fan favorite track "Marvin’s Room." In addition to the usual details found on the watch, it also features an engraving of the OVO owl logo on the back.

"I love watches with great provenance and stories," vintage watch dealer Eric Wind told Complex when the watch was first listed last month. "I think Take Care is one of the most important albums from the last 20 years. Drake is an icon. When I first learned about the watch some years back, I was kind of fixated and hopeful that I would have a chance to get it."

Wind added that the one-of-one nature of the watch, which he acquired through a former colleague of Drake's who put it up for consignment, makes it one of the rarest watches he's ever sold.

Wind told WatchPro that demand for vintage watches has reached an all-time high as of late.

"It is an interesting time in the watch field and one that I felt was coming for a long time: watches have become more of a passion investment category with new records continually being broken for outstanding vintage and independent watches while at the same time a significant portion of the Swiss watch industry seems to generally be struggling in selling watches," he explained.

"Personally, I have never seen the collectible watch market hotter than it is today," he added. "The velocity with which we are selling the watches, frequently selling the watches within minutes of listing the watch on our site, is mind-blowing."
