Audemars Piguet unveils a 150-piece Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon with AMBUSH co-founders Yoon and Verbal.
On Thursday (May 21), Audemars Piguet revealed the collaboration, introducing a 38.5 mm titanium timepiece that pairs a black aventurine dial with a red flying tourbillon driven by Calibre 2982, an open-worked movement that exposes much of its internal architecture, per a press release.
The design leans on contrast and precision, with sandblasted, satin-brushed, and polished surfaces, a black ceramic screw-locked crown, and interchangeable black and red rubber straps.
The project centers on restraint and clarity, with the tourbillon positioned as both visual anchor and symbolic core.
"Creativity is always in motion,” said Yoon Ahn in a statement. “You keep evolving, regenerating, moving forward, so the design of this limited edition had to follow that energy. For me, it was about balance, about creating something truly universal that anyone could connect with.”
“Red has always been a powerful colour for us, while the tourbillon cage represents the heart of the watch — the force that keeps everything in motion,” said Verbal. “Red evokes the Earth's core: the origin point, the source of energy and, ultimately, the beginning of how we measure time itself.”
Audemars Piguet CEO Ilaria Resta describes the collaboration as a shared creative process across disciplines.
"Audemars Piguet is built on collective energy. Working with Yoon and Verbal offers a fresh lens on the Royal Oak Concept's intricate architecture,” she said. “Their purposeful emphasis on the tourbillon and the movement's core elements brings the mechanics of time to the fore, reflecting our shared vision to return to the essential."
The release continues the Royal Oak Concept line that began in 2002 as an experimental platform in haute horlogerie, now carried forward in a more compact format that highlights open mechanics, material contrast, and collaboration across creative fields.
