Deion Sanders has given the world an update about how he feels after his "tumultuous” battle with bladder cancer.
During an appearance on Good Morning America last week, Sanders discussed his health and the upcoming college football season with former NFL player Michael Strahan.
Sanders explained why he’s looking forward to “winning.”
“I’m healthy. I got my health back. I got my swagger back,” he said. “I got my ‘me’ back. Last year at this time, I’m fighting cancer, I didn’t know which way it was going to go.”
When Sanders mentioned that last year was “not a good look,” Strahan countered and said that other people may have “taken a break”—but Sanders stayed committed to the players on his football team.
“I’m thankful that we fought the battle, and we won the battle fighting cancer,” Sanders said. “It was a tremendous and tumultuous battle, and I’m thankful to be sitting here right now.”
Later on in the conversation, Sanders clarified that his cancer is in remission.
“I’m cancer-free,” Sanders explained. “I’m good. Great doctors in Colorado that has brought me through. God has brought me through. I’m thankful. I’m healthy. I got my swagger back. Like, I’m ready to go, ready to go coach my butt off this season.”
Sanders isn’t the only one with an eye toward a better Buffaloes season.
Sanders’ son recently joked that the Colorado Buffaloes can’t have a disappointing season because it would potentially impact his coverage of the team on his YouTube channels.
During a Well Off Media vlog, Deion Sanders Jr. spoke about the team’s recruiting efforts with Director of Player Personnel Darrius Darden-Box.
"I appreciate you, man, because we gotta win," Sanders said. "Or I'mma be out of a job."
The Colorado Buffaloes finished up last season with a 3-9 record.
