The San Antonio Spurs ultimately put a stop to the New York Knicks’ playoff streak on Monday (June 8), leading to multiple reminders from LASIK of their offer for free eye surgery for referees.
As everyone reading this is surely aware by now, Game 3 of the NBA Finals ended with a final score of 115-111 in the Spurs’ favor. Both during the star-stacked game, and after, fans—not to mention Mike Brown, head coach of the Knicks—questioned some of the officiating decisions.
The folks at LASIK had their eyes on such calls, as well, issuing a series of well-timed surgery encouragements on social media. In one example, seen below, the official LASIK X account noted they were “still offering free LASIK to all NBA refs” while highlighting a clip of a particularly debated moment during Monday’s game.
In the clip, Jalen Brunson of the Knicks is seen hitting the ground after contact from Stephon Castle of the Spurs. Castle avoided a flagrant foul call after the moment in question, though he was hit with a common foul.
For those unfamiliar, LASIK eye surgery, as detailed here, is “an advanced refractive surgery that utilizes advanced diagnostic tools and femtosecond laser technology to precisely reshape the cornea, correcting various vision issues such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.”
During a presser after the game, Brown was quick to praise the Spurs for playing “great” at the Garden, but just as quick to question some of the calls that were made.
“I don’t complain much, [but] I never thought I’d see that in an NBA Finals game,” he said. “I saw it tonight.”
The Knicks and the Spurs will face off, again in New York, on Wednesday (June 10).
