A stray basketball proved to be a temporary nuisance for Jennifer Hudson during Tuesday night’s Knicks game.

As seen in footage making the rounds on social media, a ball is seen going into the crowd, with one angle making it seem as though Hudson herself was hit in the face by the ball. From another angle, however, it looks more like the ball itself just barely missed her. Direct hit or not, Hudson’s glasses were knocked from her face amid the commotion.

Key to the moment is Common, who was also sitting courtside at the time. As seen in the video below, he quickly puts his hands up in an effort to deflect the ball. Knicks player Miles McBride is also seen appearing to apologize to the two.

Alexandra Daddario, 50 Cent, Tracy Morgan, Edie Falco, and more stars were also in attendance at the Knicks’ Tuesday night game against the Golden State Warriors. Ultimately, the Knicks lost, with the Warriors coming out on top in a 114-102 victory.

The game did not mark Common and Hudson’s first time being seen courtside together. The two have been romantically linked in recent months, at one point discussing marriage on an episode of Hudson’s talk show. In an episode that originally aired in October, Common was asked about then-recent comments he’d made about marriage, prompting him to reiterate his “true feelings” on the matter.

“Listen, Jennifer is the person, if I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson,” he said at the time.

Hudson was quick to express “support” for Common’s idea when asked where she stands, calling the Silo actor a “deserving man.”
