Authorities have released additional details surrounding Tiger Woods' recent DUI arrest, including information about medication found on him at the scene.
According to official documents tied to the incident, per eonline, deputies recovered two pills from Woods' pocket after taking him into custody following a March 27 crash in Jupiter Island, Florida. Investigators later identified the pills as Hydrocodone, a prescription opioid, and logged them as evidence.
The arrest followed a rollover accident involving Woods' vehicle and a pickup truck. While no one was injured, officers noted that Woods appeared impaired when they arrived.
"Our DUI investigators came to the scene here, and Mr. Woods did exemplify signs of impairment," Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said during a briefing. "They did do some in-depth roadside tests. And when it was determined, he was placed under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail."
Officials said alcohol was not believed to be involved. Woods reportedly registered no alcohol on a breath test, but investigators suspected another substance may have contributed to his condition, describing his demeanor as sluggish.
"Mr. Woods did a breathalyzer test, blew triple zeros, but when it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused," Budensiek said. "And so he's been charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test."
Budensiek added that while Woods was within his rights to decline further testing, doing so limits the ability to confirm what may have caused his impairment.
"He has a right to refuse that test… but we will never get definitive results as to what he was impaired on at the time of the crash," he said.
Following the crash, Woods exited his vehicle through the passenger side and told officers about prior injuries and surgeries. Woods has not publicly addressed the latest details, and his representatives have not responded to requests for comment. The case remains under investigation.
