Shaquille O'Neal kept things light — and a little unexpected — during a recent run-in with a TMZ Sports reporter in New York City.

While the conversation started with an attempt to get the NBA legend's thoughts on the upcoming playoffs, O'Neal had other ideas. Instead of diving straight into basketball analysis, the Big Diesel shifted the tone, complimenting the outlet's field producer and joking his way through much of the exchange.

"You're the best-looking TMZ girl I've ever seen in my life," O'Neal said with a smile, repeatedly praising the reporter throughout the interaction. Check the clip out here.

Still, there was a bit of basketball talk mixed in. When asked about the Los Angeles Lakers navigating the postseason without Luka Dončić, O'Neal brushed off concerns, saying Luka will "be back for the playoffs" while also expressing confidence that the team would be fine.

The conversation briefly pivoted to O'Neal's DJ career, where he announced he will be performing in Pittsburgh next. Shaq then circled back with the reporter and told TMZ to keep her under contract.

"Hey, TMZ, keep this girl," he joked after asking what her name was. "This is the best-looking TMZ girl ever."

The interaction arrives amid recent criticism of O'Neal's on-air behavior. Grace Camille, who went viral earlier this month after a courtside moment during an Indiana Pacers game, later seemed to take issue with her appearance on Inside the NBA. After being invited on the show with her boyfriend to discuss the clip, she said the experience got a little strange.

Camille seemed to describe O'Neal's approach during the segment as uncomfortable, saying she initially went along with the jokes before feeling put on the spot. The appearance included playful, but persistent, comments from O'Neal suggesting her boyfriend propose on-air, even offering to buy the engagement ring. However, Camille later clarified that Shaq “did absolutely nothing to make us uncomfortable and I do not view him as ‘creepy’ at all.”

The moment drew mixed reactions online, with some viewers seeing it as typical studio banter, while others questioned whether it went too far.
