Jaylen Brown had a laugh at Donald Trump's expense after footage from Game 3 of the NBA Finals appeared to show the president dozing off in his suite at Madison Square Garden.
During a livestream while touring in China, Brown discussed the star-studded crowd at Monday night’s matchup between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.
"They had everybody at the game. They had all the who's who, Jay-Z, Cardi B," Brown said. "I saw Donald Trump was there. He fell asleep. Not surprised at that."
Brown's comments came after fan-recorded videos circulated online showing Trump sitting beside Knicks owner James Dolan with his eyes appearing closed during portions of the game.
Trump attended Game 3 after receiving an invitation from Dolan and arrived at Madison Square Garden roughly an hour before tipoff. According to reports, the appearance marked the first time a sitting U.S. president attended an NBA Finals game.
The president's presence quickly became one of the night's biggest storylines. When he appeared on the arena's video board during the national anthem, many fans responded with loud boos throughout the building.
Trump ultimately left Madison Square Garden before the final buzzer, departing with several minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Following the game, he reportedly spoke with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver during the evening.
"He came over to pay his respects," Trump said afterward. "We talked a little bit about the NBA and about the game."
The Spurs defeated the Knicks 115-111 to cut New York's series lead to 2-1 after the Knicks won the first two games in San Antonio. Victor Wembanyama led the way with 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three blocks, while Stephon Castle chipped in 23 points. Jalen Brunson scored 32 points for New York, while OG Anunoby added 28 in the loss.
