Rick Fox has spoken out about a viral video showing him involved in a disagreement that nearly escalated into a physical altercation at a campaign rally in the Bahamas.
Fox and a person off-camera appeared to have a misunderstanding over the placement of a tent. Things took a turn when the former NBA player tried to bring up the rules, and was told, “I don't give a fuck about no rules.”
Fox attempted to lunge at the person, but was held back. A shouting match ensued. The three-time NBA champion then shoved away someone from his own team to try and intimidate the group. While flexing on him, Fox said, “Right here for y'all, all day long.”
After the two sides argued for a little while longer, Fox walked away.
In a statement to TMZ Sports, Fox claimed his behavior was in response to him and his campaign manager being threatened.
“The opposition party that is in power are notorious for victimizing and bullying Bahamians,” he said. “But I’ve been standing up to them, and in this video, my campaign manager's life was threatened and so was mine by someone on their party as we are Advance Poll voting [Thursday].”
Fox said he tapped into his demeanor in his NBA days as an “enforcer,” a player who is known for protecting the star players when they are picked on by an opposing player.
“I stood up to the bully no different than my basketball career when I was the enforcer,” he said. “Someone threatens a teammate's life or threatens my life, I will defend to the death if necessary.”
A subdued Fox told reporters that the police handled the situation and charged the person.
Fox announced in Nov. 2025 that he was running for a legislative seat in the Bahamas.
Fox was born in Toronto but grew up in the Bahamas, where his father is from.
