Kevin Durant Says Paul George Is His Favorite Player

When the Golden State Warriors take on the Indiana Pacers at the Oracle Arena tonight, Kevin Durant is not only facing his USA Basketball teammate Paul George, but he's also competing against his favorite player in the NBA today.

"He's my favorite player in the league," Durant said, according to Anthony Slater of The Mercury News. “I’ve been saying that for awhile. Just so smooth, man. He can do it all: pass, rebound, defend, post up, shoot the ball. He’s my favorite player.”

In addition to raving about George's skill set, Durant revealed that similarities between their personalities led to them developing a solid friendship over the years. “We want the same things on the basketball court,” Durant said. “He’s low-maintenance. He’s a superstar, but he’s a low-maintenance guy. Doesn’t need much. Same type of attitude that I bring. Loves the game. Loves to work. So we kind of clicked.”

It didn't take long for George to burst onto the NBA scene. In his third season, PG was just 22 years old when he led the Pacers to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance before getting bounced by the Miami Heat and their Big 3 of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. With a bright future ahead of him, George suffered a broken leg during a Team USA scrimmage the following year. Eight months later, PG-13 returned to the court, and has since looked like the same person who displayed all the traits which made him KD's favorite player.
