Tennis pro Sebastian Korda and his girlfriend Ivana Nedved share family athleticism in common.
Both have parents who were professional athletes at the top of their professions.
Korda's dad Petr Korda was a Grand Slam tennis champion. Nedved's dad is Pavel Nedved, a professional soccer player who is a legend in the Czech Republic, according to People.
Korda squares off against American tennis pro Taylor Fritz in Tokyo on September 27.
According to People, Sebastian Korda's mother was also a prominent athlete. She is Olympian tennis player Regina Rajchrtová.
Pavel Nedved is currently embroiled in an accounting scandal, according to BBC.
Korda told UK Express that it's helpful to have a girlfriend who understands the needs of the professional tennis circuit.
"I mean she understands, the best thing is she understands sports which is great,” Korda said of Ivana. “She understands how difficult it is to be a professional athlete and that there’s a lot of sacrifices.
“She’s an amazing partner to have and I’m very lucky to have someone that just understands it and always is trying to be there and just always being there is probably the biggest key," he added in that interview.
He concluded, "Yeah she’s a massive support. She travels with me a ton."
"I’m very appreciative whenever she comes and we have a lot of fun together, she takes my mind off of tennis and we have fun and can relax and go sightseeing a little bit and just be normal in a way when you’re outside the tennis courts and it’s massive for any athlete just to take their mind off of things and just be fresh and ready to go whenever you go back out there and practice," Korda told Express.
Korda, who was born in Florida, plays for the U.S. team. The 25-year-old is ranked 74th in the world, according to the ATP Tour.
