Felix Auger-Aliassime has his work cut out for him at the U.S. Open against the world's top-ranked men's tennis player, Jannik Sinner, on September 5.
He wasn't expected to make the semifinals, yet here he is, after a very tight match with Alex de Minaur.
But he also has something big to look forward to after the tennis match, no matter which way it goes. That's because the 25-year-old Canadian tennis player is getting married to his girlfriend Nina Ghaibi in two weeks.
According to Sports Illustrated, Auger-Aliassime is making Ghaibi, 25, his wife in her home country of Morocco.
“I didn’t do much. As long as I have my suit ready, that’s about the best I can do,” Auger-Aliassime joked to People about his fiancée handling most of the wedding planning. “But she’s been amazing. Her and her family have been taking care of a lot, and I have to give her all the credit.”
According to People, he's wearing Dior for the wedding.
“It’s tough to find a date in this busy calendar that we have, but we wanted to do it in the summertime," he told People of the date being so close to the U.S. Open.
He proposed to Ghaibi in 2024 in the Seychelles and told People he's looking forward to the challenges married life brings.
In March, he wrote on Instagram: "First date 6 years ago today in Miami and here we are 6 years later planning our wedding 🤍🙌🏽 Life is beautiful."
Auger-Aliassime is from Montreal, according to his biography on the ATP Tour website. He is the 27th-ranked tennis player in the world.
The bio notes that his father, Sam Aliassime, is a tennis coach originally from Togo; his mother is Marie Auger, and his sister, Malika, also plays tennis. It adds that Felix is fluent in French and English, began playing at age 5, and also plays piano.
