Stephen A. Smith could barely conceal his disgust when his daughter, Samantha Smith, revealed that she had a crush on Bryce James, the youngest son of LeBron James.
Jones was a guest on the Tuesday (August 19) episode of her dad's podcast, The Stephen A. Smith Show, where both answered fan questions. Around the 13-minute mark, Smith almost skipped a question from a person who asked if she hates LeBron, but Smith insisted that she respond. But the sports personality was unprepared for his teenage daughter to admit that she was interested in Bryce, 18.
"I'm about to get clipped for this. Y'all. I've got to tread carefully here," Samantha began. "I went to a Cavaliers game against Golden State. Great player. I'm just going to leave it there."
But Samantha vividly remembered spotting Bryce, whom James shares with his wife of twelve years, Savannah James. The spouses also have an oldest son, LeBron 'Bronny' James Jr., 20, and a daughter, Zhuri James, 10.
"And there's Bronny, too. But I remember I used to have the biggest crush on Bryce James like a year ago," Samantha continued as Smith looked at her in disbelief. "So, it was really awkward when there was a lot of beef just between Bryce and I. He doesn't know who I am."
"That was difficult for me to deal with," Samantha joked while faking a cry. "He has a girlfriend now, her name is Sadie. She's gorgeous. Next question."
Smith jumped in to say he doesn't "hate anybody," although LeBron pressed him earlier this year over criticism about Bronny's athletic performance. Smith and LeBron had a tense standoff while courtside at a New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers game, where the power forward told Smith to "stop talking shit" about his son.
While Smith initially wanted to make amends with James after the misunderstanding, he's since said that the two dislike each other.
While Samantha has gotten over her crush on Bryce, she's brought up a "guy friend" named Jaylin to her father on the podcast before, which had the sports correspondent stressed.
