Stefon Diggs is set to appear in court five days after Super Bowl LX, as his arraignment on charges of misdemeanor assault and battery have been pushed back.
According to TMZ, the New England Patriots star was initially scheduled to be in court on January 23, two days before this year's AFC Championship, but as Diggs' attorney stated in court filings, the athlete has a "previously-scheduled professional commitment."
The court date has been pushed to February 13, five days after the two championship-winning teams — which Diggs could be a part of if the Patriots beats their opponents — face off at the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California.
Diggs faces charges of felony strangulation or suffocation, misdemeanor assault and battery after being accused of attacking his former chef during a salary dispute.
The woman alleges that a disagreement over unpaid wages turned violent on December 2, 2025, and claims the NFL star became angry and smacked her over an earlier text exchange they had. The woman also claimed that Diggs attempted to choke her by wrapping the "crook of his elbow" around her neck.
The chef reportedly began working for Diggs last July and was expected to continue through the 2025 season. Her payments allegedly changed from weekly to monthly until she said that a month's pay wasn't received at the time of their altercation.
On December 20, the woman alleged that she received a voicemail and texts from a woman she believed was Diggs' girlfriend, whom told her "not to make a big deal out of the situation," although she didn't specify whether it was Cardi B. As Billboard notes, Cardi would defend Diggs in a since-deleted post on X by claiming that the chef neglected to tell her about the alleged assault.
With a settlement having been offered to the woman, the Patriots are aware of the allegations, which the athlete "categorically denies," but have extended their support to the athlete.
