DeWanna Bonner has been in the WNBA for an impressive 15 years, and when she was signed to the Indiana Fever in February, many fans were excited to see how she would contribute to the team.

Bonner has had quite an exciting season and recently celebrated a major milestone when she became the first player to reach 7,500 points, 3,000 rebounds, and 1,000 assists in the history of the WNBA.

Unfortunately, though, the Indiana Fever announced on Wednesday, June 25, that they’ll be parting ways with Bonner, who had missed the last five games for what was referred to as personal reasons.

"I want to sincerely thank the Indiana Fever for the opportunity to be part of the Fever franchise," Bonner said in a recent statement. "Despite our shared goals and excitement heading into the season, I felt the fit did not work out, and I appreciate the organization's willingness to grant my request to move on, particularly at this point in my career. I wish the Fever great success as they continue to build around this dynamic group of young players."

At 37 years old, Bonner is significantly older than many of the girls on the current Fever team. She has also reportedly been considering whether or not it may be time for her to retire.

However, in the wake of the news of Bonner being waived, the Fever has also announced that they have signed on guard Aari McDonald for the rest of the season.

McDonald is 26 years old and has played for both Atlanta and Los Angeles. She also played with the Fever for a short amount of time.

"I'm so excited to rejoin the Fever," McDonald said. "Although my time with the team was brief, it immediately felt like the place to be. I'm grateful for the warm welcome from the coaches, teammates, and fans, and most of all, I thank God for the incredible journey I'm on."
