Kevin Durant Sometimes Doesn’t Shower or Get Haircuts: ‘I Like to Feel Close to the Trenches’

Durant offered an explanation: "I'm way more relaxed when I'm just not giving a f*ck."

Kevin Durant has some questionable habits.

The Houston Rockets player chatted with his teammate, Fred VanVleet for his Unguarded podcast, where he shared his take on showering, getting haircuts, and moisturizing.

“I really used to care at one point about like, ‘Man, let me get a cut this week. Then after a while, I was like, ‘I'm way more relaxed when I'm just not giving a fuck.’ I just stopped getting cut. Stopped lotioning,” KD said at around the 2:07:00 hour mark. “I take showers.”

“You get too much money, man,” VanVleet responded. “You don't care about showering and a haircut.”

“I shower,” Durant responded. “I might go two days sometimes without hopping in that water, wait til I get to the gym,” adding, “If I'm sitting in the house, I might just want to go musty for a couple days. … I just like to feel close to the trenches like that.”

Earlier this month, Durant became the eighth player in the NBA’s history to score 31,000 points. He cleared the accolade on Dec. 5, when the Rockets played his former team, the Phoenix Suns. That night, the 37-year-old scored 28 points during the Rockets’ 117-98 win, with his career total coming to 31,024.

The night prior to that, Durant dropped 24 points during the Rockets’ 121-95 win against the Sacramento Kings. At the postgame presser, a reporter informed him that he was only four points from landing the eighth slot on the career scoring list.

"Damn, I could have did that tonight," Durant said. He was then asked if career milestones ever "move him," to which he said: "Yeah, they do, hell yeah. I mean, eight players in the history of the game? That’s insane."
