The Houston Texans have confirmed that defensive end J.J. Watt will pay for the funerals of those murdered in the Santa Fe High School shooting, according to ESPN. Fox 26's Mark Berman reported that Sante Fe school officials have been notified.

In the Friday morning shooting, 10 people were killed and another 10 were injured by a teenager with a shotgun and revolver. Santa Fe High School is located about 30 miles from downtown Houston.

Nine of the people killed were students, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. Texas Governor Greg Abbott referred to the shooting as “one of the most heinous attacks that we've ever seen in the history of Texas schools.”

The shooting's suspect has been identified as Dimitros Pagourtzis, who's been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault of a police officer. A second person of interest is also being held.

After news of the shooting broke, Watt tweeted, “Absolutely horrific.”

Watt has been involved in Houston’s community and surrounding areas since being drafted to the Texans in 2011. He even started a fundraiser last August, which brought in over $37 million to victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The Texans also issued a statement.
