Dwight Howard’s divorce from his estranged wife, Amy Luciani, is no longer amicable.
TMZ reports that the ex-NBA star has requested a protective order against her. Court documents obtained by the outlet reveal that Howard claimed Luciani “tricked him into marriage with false claims about her fertility.”
She apparently knew she couldn’t have children, but “denied that fact and actively lied” to marry him, which Luciani has since denied.
Howard accused Luciani of launching a “crusade of lies and defamation” against him, resulting in his losing job opportunities. At one point, she said he used cocaine, which he refuted. She also apparently spread rumors about him to his loved ones, including his family, friends, and the mothers of his five kids.
Additionally, Howard alleged that Amy provided false information to the police and that she has a “history of lying and manipulating” him. These problems caused the pair’s marriage to be unsteady, leading him to file for divorce.
The exes married in January 2025, with Howard first filing for divorce in June 2025, and Luciani filing her own petition the following month. Both cases were eventually dismissed before Howard filed again in March 2026.
In early April, Howard was granted a protective order against Luciani amid their divorce; however, days later, he dropped the restraining order in an effort to have a more “amicable resolution” as they worked through the end of their marriage, per Howard’s attorney. Unfortunately, it seems he’s changed his tune yet again.
