Ezekiel Elliott Facing Charges Over Altercation With EDC Security Guard

Police say they will conduct an investigation before the Cowboys RB can be officially charged.

Ezekiel Elliott wasn't off the hook, after all.

Back in May, the Dallas Cowboys running back was detained by Las Vegas police after an altercation with a security guard. The incident went down at the EDC music festival, where Elliott allegedly shoved Kyle Johnson into a metal barrier. Though the NFL star was filmed in handcuffs, he ultimately dodged criminal charges and an arrest, as Johnson chose not to file a complaint.

Well, it appears the security guard had a change of heart.

On Saturday, Fox 5 reported Johnson decided to pursue charges against Elliott after the NFL announced the player would not be punished over the May 19 altercation.

"To not have anything happen to him, the NFL is basically saying it's OK to go to Vegas, get obliterated, and shove people over fences," Johnson said, before criticizing Elliott's apology. "Just very unsympathetic. Like 'I have to do this, I'm being forced to do this. I don't want to be here right now' kind of thing."

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say they will investigate the incident to determine if there is enough evidence to charge Elliott with battery.

Elliott's legal team responded to the complaint in a statement to TMZ. Attorneys Scott Rosenblum and Jason Lampert say Elliott is cooperating in the probe, and accused Johnson of attempting to blackmail their client.

"Over the course of the past several weeks, Mr. Elliott has been the target of extortion," they said. "Kyle Johnson's filing of a criminal complaint against Mr. Elliott in connection with the Las Vegas incident is the latest attempt to do so. Mr. Elliott and his team are in contact with all of the proper authorities and are fully cooperating with them in their investigations."

Stay tuned for further developments.
