Stephen A. Smith says he's "salty" over some recent comments Michelle Obama made about him and his colleagues at ESPN, comparing the broadcasters to the Real Housewives franchise.
The popular ESPN host shared his thoughts on an episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show over the weekend, addressing Obama in saying, "I respectfully disagreed and still remain pretty salty about what you said about us."
Smith is referring to an episode of Obama's IMO podcast last week where she said, "If I listen to ESPN for an hour, it’s like watching ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’… It’s the same drama, and they’re yelling at each other… I mean, Stephen A. Smith, he’s just like every other talk show host.”
Smith then went on to bring up an issue he had with an appearance former President Barack Obama made in Pittsburgh during Kamala Harris' run for President where Barack urged black men to get behind the candidate.
Smith said, "I feel even more adamant about what your husband, Barack Obama, said when he talked to those men in Pittsburgh and implied that to not vote for Kamala is because we are engaging in some sort of misogyny. There are issues that matter to every American citizen, and to sort of blackmail us emotionally to try and compel us to vote one way or another is what won Trump the election."
Smith is referring to a campaign event where the former POTUS was quoted saying, "You’re coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses—I’ve got a problem with that.” He added, “Part of it makes me think … you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives or other reasons for that.”
Smith certainly isn't afraid to speak his mind, but it remains to be seen if Obamas controversy will continue as neither Barack or Michelle have responded to his latest call out.
