CM Punk has officially been revealed as the cover athlete for WWE 2K26, marking a notable milestone in both the franchise and Punk’s second chapter with the company.

According to Bleacher Report, the announcement follows WWE’s earlier unveiling of several special editions of the game, including the Attitude Era, Monday Night War, and King of Kings covers.

Punk, however, will headline the standard edition of WWE 2K26, making him the face most players will see when the game launches. Full gameplay details and roster updates have yet to be released, but the cover reveal confirms Punk’s central positioning in this year’s installment of the long-running WWE gaming series.

This is Punk’s first appearance on the cover of a main-line WWE video game since WWE ’13, which was released in October 2012.

Punk departed WWE in January 2014 and did not return until nearly a decade later, when he made a surprise comeback at Survivor Series 2023.

Since returning, Punk has been heavily featured across WWE programming. He has worked on high-profile programs with Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Roman Reigns, and Gunther, while also capturing the World Heavyweight Championship during his earlier WWE run.

Punk is currently reigning as champion after defeating Jey Uso for the vacant title in November 2025.

The timing of the WWE 2K26 cover reveal arrives amid renewed conversation about Punk’s in-ring performance. WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash recently made pointed comments about Punk on his Kliq This podcast, focusing on what he observed during a recent episode of WWE Raw.

“I watched Punk in the main event match last Monday,” Nash said. “If you’re the World Champ of WWE and you’re wrestling in a T-shirt… ouch. His punches looked really slow. He looked slow. I think it’s time for him. He’s done.”

Nash’s remarks centered on Punk’s appearance and pace in the ring, particularly during a main event match that took place on the December 22, 2025, edition of Raw.
