UFC Freedom 250’s White House Spectacle Couldn’t Top Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano Ratings

UFC’s biggest Paramount+ event ever went all-in on spectacle, but Netflix’s reach for the Most Valuable Promotions event kept one MMA benchmark out of reach.

UFC Freedom 250 delivered a massive audience for Paramount+, but the White House spectacle still fell short of the viewership generated earlier this year by Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano.

According to Nielsen and Adobe Analytics data cited by The New York Times, UFC Freedom 250 averaged 8.2 million viewers across the United States and Latin America, with 17 million unique viewers tuning in for at least one minute. In the U.S. alone, the historic card averaged 7 million viewers, making it the most-watched live exclusive event in Paramount+ history.

But despite the unprecedented setting, the numbers didn't surpass the benchmark set in May 2026, when Rousey and Carano headlined Most Valuable Promotions' first MMA event on Netflix.

That card averaged 9.3 million viewers in the United States and 12.4 million viewers globally. The broadcast peaked at nearly 17 million viewers worldwide during the main event and generated more than 410 million impressions across MVP's social media platforms. Rousey's 17-second armbar victory over Carano also produced the largest domestic MMA audience since 2011.

The contrast between the two events has sparked plenty of discussion, but MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian appeared uninterested in framing the numbers as a rivalry.

“Tremendous success for UFC 250, which is great for the continued growth of the sport, the fighters and the fans,” Bidarian said in a statement. “MVP MMA had Netflix. UFC 250 had the White House and one of the most recognized global figures in history in President Trump. Only winners here in all scenarios.”

He also emphasized that the UFC remains the standard-bearer in the sport. “UFC is by far the most dominant brand — the reference brand for the sport of MMA,” Bidarian said. “For MVP MMA to be in the same ballpark of viewership for their biggest event ever is damn good. Don’t care who was higher. Congrats to all.”

Dana White also celebrated the success of Freedom 250, revealing that Paramount executives were thrilled with the performance.

“I just got off the phone with David Ellison, he’s going crazy,” White said after the event. “The fight exceeded all expectations.”

Held on the South Lawn of the White House as part of the country's 250th anniversary celebrations, UFC Freedom 250 featured Justin Gaethje upsetting Ilia Topuria to capture the lightweight title. Remarkably, every bout on the main card ended by knockout or TKO.

The event shattered the previous Paramount+ record set by UFC 324 earlier this year, which drew 5 million viewers after the promotion began its new seven-year media partnership with the streamer.

Still, the latest numbers add another layer to the unlikely success story that began with Rousey and Carano. What started as a dream fight between two pioneers evolved into one of the biggest MMA broadcasts ever. Rousey submitted Carano in just 17 seconds before announcing her retirement.
