Trysten Hill, a former second-round NFL draft pick, was arrested in Texas last week after authorities accused him of assaulting a pregnant woman. The 28-year-old was taken into custody by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office on March 26 and booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center in Waxahachie. According to jail records, Hill faces charges of assault of a pregnant person and interfering with an emergency request for assistance.
According to The New York Post, authorities said Hill was being held on a $3,500 bond tied to two bond-forfeiture warrants connected to a 2025 criminal investigation. The identity of the alleged victim has not been released, and officials have not said what relationship, if any, the woman has to Hill.
Ellis County investigators have also not disclosed additional details about what led to the arrest.
Hill entered the NFL with major expectations after starring at the University of Central Florida. After helping the school to a 25-game winning streak and standing out during the 2018 season, he declared for the 2019 draft and was selected 58th overall by the Dallas Cowboys.
At the time, Dallas viewed him as a potential long-term answer on the defensive line. A former three-star recruit from Suwannee High School in Florida, Hill had originally committed to both Georgia Tech and Virginia before ultimately choosing UCF.
Instead, Hill’s professional career became defined as much by inconsistency and disciplinary issues as by production.
During the 2020 season, he was fined by the NFL for a late hit on Russell Wilson and for twisting Chris Carson’s leg after a play had ended.
A year later, he was suspended one game after throwing a punch at John Simpson following a Thanksgiving matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Hill appeared in 25 games across four seasons with the Cowboys, totaling 39 tackles and half a sack before the team released him midway through the 2022 season. He later spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, and Indianapolis Colts, though he never established a permanent role.
His last NFL stint came in 2024, and he has not been on an active roster since.
