As reports surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding plans continue to grow, attention has now shifted to another major topic tied to the couple’s future: a reported prenuptial agreement and the legal strategy behind it.
According to TMZ, Swift and Kelce are expected to sign a prenup before getting married, with the biggest question reportedly being where the agreement will be drafted. Because prenup laws vary significantly from state to state, the location of the document could play a major role in how it is interpreted if disputes arise later.
The reported options include Rhode Island, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and New York — all states where the couple has personal or professional ties. California has reportedly already been ruled out. Swift owns homes in Rhode Island, Tennessee, and New York, while Kelce’s NFL career connects him to both Missouri and Kansas through the Kansas City Chiefs organization.
The reports come as lawyers and legal analysts have started weighing in publicly on what an agreement between two globally recognized public figures could look like.
Sarah Luetto, a partner in Blank Rome’s Matrimonial & Family Law Group, told Page Six that confidentiality would likely be a major priority. “Swift and Kelce may wish to include terms fostering confidentiality and privacy,” Luetto said, adding that non-disclosure and non-disparagement clauses connected to the marriage could potentially be included.
Luetto also noted that any agreement would likely keep the couple’s individual assets separate. That would include Swift’s music catalog and intellectual property holdings, which have become a defining part of her business empire following her highly publicized efforts to regain ownership of her masters.
“Given the complexities of their respective estates,” Luetto explained, “it is likely that any prenuptial agreement would keep their respective estates entirely separate.”
One reported wrinkle involves Swift’s songwriting career. While privacy clauses could reportedly limit public discussion about the marriage itself, Luetto suggested Swift would likely avoid agreeing to anything that restricts her ability to write songs inspired by her personal life.
The prenup discussion arrives amid a wave of evolving reports about the couple’s wedding plans. Earlier stories pointed to a Rhode Island ceremony tied to Swift’s Westerly estate, while newer reports claim the wedding will instead happen in New York City on July 3.
Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed details about a prenup, wedding location, or timeline.
