Stefon Diggs may have another potential landing spot emerging as NFL teams continue evaluating veteran talent ahead of the 2026 season. New reporting has linked the free-agent wide receiver to the Chicago Bears, a team that suddenly finds itself searching for experience at the position after trading DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills earlier this offseason.

The Bears' receiving corps is now built around younger players, with Rome Odunze entering his third season and Luther Burden III preparing for his second year in the NFL. Beyond those two, Chicago's depth chart features veterans Kalif Raymond and Scotty Miller, as well as developing options such as Jahdae Walker and Zavion Thomas. That situation has fueled discussion about whether the franchise should add a proven veteran before training camp.

According to Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated, Chicago stands out as a logical destination for Diggs despite questions that often follow veteran receivers late in their careers.

Manzano pointed to the Bears' need for an experienced target after moving on from Moore, while noting that Diggs still brings significant production to the table even as he approaches his 33rd birthday.

“Perhaps the Bears take a chance on Diggs because they need an experienced wide receiver after trading DJ Moore to the Bills,” Manzano wrote.

He also noted that Diggs “still possesses considerable on-field ability,” while acknowledging that some teams could be cautious because of the negative attention surrounding the receiver over the past year.

The discussion around Diggs comes after a busy offseason for the veteran. Following his release from the New England Patriots, multiple teams were mentioned as potential fits, including the Washington Commanders, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, and Los Angeles Rams.

Reports suggested Diggs could command a short-term contract worth roughly $10 million after producing 85 receptions, 1,013 receiving yards, and four touchdowns during the 2025 season.

That production is one reason teams remain interested. Diggs also played a significant role in the development of quarterback Drake Maye during his lone season in New England.

For Chicago, a similar dynamic could be appealing as former No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams enters a critical stage of his development under head coach Ben Johnson.
