Sophie Cunningham is beginning the next chapter of her career in Indiana with both a new contract and a public declaration of faith.

Just days after agreeing to a one-year, $665,000 deal to remain with the Indiana Fever, Cunningham shared a TikTok showing herself being baptized. The post marked a personal milestone for the 29-year-old guard, who explained that while she had been baptized as a child, she wanted to make the decision again on her own terms.

“I got baptized when I was little but I was feeling a tug on my heart to do it on my terms as an adult!” Cunningham wrote alongside the video. “Such a fun, amazing day. Thank you Jesus.”

The baptism came only two days after Cunningham finalized her new contract with Indiana, ensuring she will return for another season alongside Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull.

According to Fox News, the trio became one of the most recognizable groups in the WNBA last season, eventually embracing the fan-created nickname “Tres Leches.”

Hull previously said the name took off online before the players themselves leaned into it. “We saw it on Twitter at some point, and people ran with it,” she said. “It was funny.”

Cunningham’s popularity surged during her first season in Indiana, particularly after a June game against the Connecticut Sun in which she stepped in during an altercation involving Clark.

After Clark was poked in the eye by Jacy Sheldon and then shoved by Marina Mabrey, Cunningham responded with a hard foul on Sheldon, sparking a larger confrontation and multiple ejections.

The sequence cemented Cunningham’s image among Fever fans as Clark’s protector and helped fuel her growing profile beyond basketball.

Since then, she has remained a regular presence online, generating attention through social media posts, her podcast, and a series of viral moments—including criticism of Los Angeles, a joking comment about a cold sore, and a recent back-and-forth with Clark over an Instagram photo dump.

Off the court, Cunningham has also expanded her reach. Earlier this month, she was added to USA Network’s WNBA coverage team as a contributor for the 2026 season.
