A major off-field win is adding to the growing empire of Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes, as their investment in the Kansas City Current has surged to a reported $325 million valuation—placing the franchise among the most valuable teams in women’s soccer.
The new figure, reported by Forbes, marks a significant jump for the National Women’s Soccer League club and positions it just behind Angel City FC, which leads the league at $340 million. The valuation reflects investor confidence and projected growth rather than cash on hand.
Brittany Mahomes played a central role in bringing the team to Kansas City in 2020 alongside co-owners Angie and Chris Long, long before the league’s recent valuation boom.
Patrick Mahomes joined the ownership group in 2022, becoming one of the first active NFL players to hold equity in an NWSL franchise.
Team messaging has consistently emphasized long-term ambition. “When Angie Long, Chris Long and Brittany Mahomes brought this NWSL franchise to Kansas City, they were clear in their commitment to do it right—for the players and for the city,” the club states on its official site, adding that the organization aims “to become the best women’s football club in the world.”
The rising valuation lands at a moment when Patrick Mahomes’ broader financial picture is already evolving. The Kansas City Chiefs recently restructured his contract, converting over $54 million into a signing bonus to open up more than $43 million in cap space.
While that move helps the team in the short term, it shifts larger cap hits into future seasons.
At the same time, his football future remains under close watch. The quarterback is working back from an ACL injury suffered late in the 2025 season and has been targeting a return for Week 1.
“I want to be ready… and have no restrictions,” he said earlier this year while outlining his recovery goals.
