Morgan Wallen kicked off his latest stadium show with a hometown twist on Friday night, June 5, by bringing Kurt Angle onto the field at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium for a walkout that quickly gained traction across social media. The WWE Hall of Famer escorted Wallen to the stage in front of a packed crowd at the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to Bleacher Report, videos from the event showed Angle joining the country star before the performance, creating a distinctly Pittsburgh-flavored entrance. The city holds special significance for Angle, who was born and raised in nearby Mount Lebanon and remains one of western Pennsylvania’s most celebrated sports figures.

While younger fans may know Angle primarily through professional wrestling, his athletic résumé extends far beyond the ring. Before becoming a household name in WWE, he built one of the most accomplished amateur wrestling careers of his generation.

His crowning achievement came at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he captured a gold medal in freestyle wrestling. He also won a world championship and multiple NCAA Division I titles during a decorated amateur run.

Notably, Angle’s Olympic victory came while competing with a serious neck injury.

That success translated into one of the most accomplished careers in wrestling history. After joining WWE in the late 1990s, Angle quickly rose through the ranks, winning multiple championships and developing a character that blended elite athleticism with comedic timing.

His signature line, “It’s true! It’s damn true!” became one of wrestling’s most recognizable catchphrases. He later became a cornerstone performer in TNA Wrestling, where he added six more world championship reigns before eventually returning to WWE and entering the company’s Hall of Fame.

Wallen’s walkout series has become a recurring talking point in entertainment and sports circles. Previous guests have included Caitlin Clark, Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Mike Tyson, Drake, and Moneybagg Yo.
