The Kansas City Chiefs have publicly acknowledged domestic violence allegations connected to wide receiver Rashee Rice, issuing a brief statement late Wednesday night, January 7, after the claims surfaced on social media.

“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League,” the Chiefs said in a statement to ESPN. “We have no further comment at this time.”

The response came after Dacoda Nichole Jones, Rice’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of his two children, shared a series of Instagram posts that included photos showing bruises and visible injuries on her body.

In the caption, Jones alleged that she experienced abuse over a span of several years. While she did not name Rice directly, she stated that the person she accused is the father of her children. The Chiefs’ statement likewise did not specify Rice by name.

Jones’ post alleged repeated physical abuse, controlling behavior, and intimidation, including incidents she says occurred during pregnancy and after their relationship ended. She also claimed property damage and ongoing disputes related to housing and parenting. The allegations were accompanied by images that quickly circulated online.

As of this writing, no police reports related to domestic violence had been filed in either Overland Park, Kansas, or Dallas—two locations referenced in Jones’ post as places where alleged incidents occurred. There have been no confirmed legal filings tied to the accusations at this time.

The situation unfolds against the backdrop of previous legal issues involving Rice. In July, the 25-year-old was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation for his role in a multicar crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason. The crash involved six vehicles and left multiple people injured.

Rice pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges—collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury—and received deferred adjudication, meaning the case will be dismissed if he successfully completes probation.

Video of the crash showed Rice and several others leaving the scene before police arrived. Four days later, Rice released a statement on Instagram taking responsibility and apologizing to “everyone impacted.”

In August, the NFL suspended Rice for six games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. He served the suspension at the start of the current season.
