Travis Hunter Stresses Why He's Staying Off Social Media: 'People Are Weird'

He said that "everybody gotta suffer for all the hating."

On the latest episode of his eponymous YouTube show, Heisman Trophy recipient Travis Hunter reiterated why he's choosing to stay off social media.

"For y'all information, I'm still not on social media, so whatever y'all say... it don't matter," he said around the 10:30 point of The Travis Hunter Show, as seen above. "You cannot get in touch with Travis unless you text his phone. ... They be messing up for everybody, bro. All the haters is messing up for my supporters. But aye, my supporters know I still love them. Everybody gotta suffer for all the hating."

The Colorado Buffaloes had a huge 2024, earning all sorts of achievements including the Heisman Trophy and the Walter Camp Award, but off the field there have been lots of negative comments regarding his relationship with fiancée Leanna Lenee. An old video in which she admitted that Hunter wasn't "her type" started to circulate on social media late last year, as did her admission that she took two months to respond to his DMs.

"So I rarely take pictures now, 'cause you never know what they going to do with it," he continued. "You just asking for a picture as nicely as you can, and now you want to talk bad about me? Like, what are you talking about? People are weird, bro. People scare me, dawg. They scare me because you never know who got good intentions. ... It could always go left at any moment."

He said he's not too worried, though, because he has a new security guard who he trusts. "Security, now I can stay alive for 100-plus years," he joked.

Hunter defended Lenee during a Twitch stream last month, and made it clear that he wasn't letting the trolling get to him or his relationship. "I know what I got. I know my girl. My girl's been with me for five years," Hunter said. "Y'all are just now starting to talk about me and just now starting to be with me. Come on, man."

He briefly deactivated his Instagram account last month but returned shortly after. He has since only shared one video promoting the latest season of the Deion Sanders docuseries Coach Prime, a post which had the comments turned off.
