Tyreek Hill’s Agent Says Officers Who Detained His Client Should Be Fired

Hill was briefly detained outside of Miami's Hard Rock Stadium before the season opening game on Sunday.

Tyreek Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus believes the officers who detained his client should be fired.

On Tuesday’s episode of the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, Rosenhaus expressed outrage over how his client was treated during the incident on Sunday outside of Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

As seen in footage circulating online, the 30-year-old Miami Dolphins wide receiver was forcefully removed from his vehicle and put face down into the pavement before being placed in handcuffs.

“I can tell you that the Dolphin security which is made up of either retired police officers or off-duty police officers were just appalled by the way Tyreek was treated,” Rosenhaus said at the 2:34 mark here.

“None of the police officers involved there showed any remorse or were apologetic,” he added.

The NFL agent said he wanted the officer that treated his client with aggressive behavior “to be disciplined” and “to make sure that they never do that again to anybody else who doesn't actually deserve that type of treatment.”

“There's no place for a police officer to have a badge that operates like that when Tyreek wasn't being aggressive or violent or fighting back in any capacity. That was horrendous how they treated him. They didn't treat him like a human being. There's no place for police officers to be on the force,” he stated.

When asked about Hill’s stance on firing the officers, Rosenhaus stated that he hadn’t discussed it directly with him but would recommend that the Dolphins player and his legal counsel pursue it.

Rosenhaus also asserted that Hill was cooperative and submissive during the incident and criticized the lack of communication and patience from the officers that detained him. He mentioned that Hill had a wrist injury and recently underwent treatments on his knee, yet was still handled violently and called “a cry baby.”

Hill’s teammates Calais Campbell and Odell Beckham, Jr. were seen arriving on the scene on the body camera footage released by the Miami-Dade Police Department. Campbell also wound up in handcuffs but it’s unclear what he was cited for.

Meanwhile, Hill was only temporarily detained and eventually played in the season opening game against the Jacksonville Jaguars later that day.

One of the officers involved in Hill’s detainment, identified as Danny Torres by USA Today, was placed on administrative leave while Miami-Dade PD continues investigating the incident. Attorneys for Torres called for the 27-year veteran of the department to be immediately reinstated.
