Steph Curry is Due Back on the Court Very Soon

Warriors guard Stephen Curry is one of the most electrifying, game-changing players in the NBA. It was a shame that the one-time back-to-back MVP had to miss Golden State's showdown with Cleveland on Christmas Day.

Curry has missed the last 10 games with a right ankle sprain, but he should be back very soon—perhaps this Saturday, says Warriors coach Steve Kerr.

"I doubt he'll play tomorrow with a back-to-back," Kerr said after the team's practice Thursday, according to ESPN. "I don't think it would make much sense, but I think he's probably going to want to. But it's more likely he plays Saturday. If all goes well, I expect him to play Saturday, but even if it goes well, I'm not expecting him to play tomorrow."

It's likely that Curry will want to play Friday, as the Warriors will take on his hometown team, the Charlotte Hornets, but Kerr's response indicates it's likelier he'll be back on the court for Saturday's game at home against Memphis.

The Warriors haven't missed a beat with their star guard out for an extended period. They've gone 9-1 and gained the lead in the Western Conference, surpassing the Houston Rockets, who bolted out of the gates.

Curry is averaging 26.3 points, 6.6 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game this year. He's shooting 38 percent from downtown, which, for Curry, is quite bad—he's never finished a season shooting worse than 41 percent from three-point range.

He has a major impact anytime he is on the court, though; Curry's offensive rating—a measure of how many points a player produces per 100 possessions—is the second-highest of his career, trailing only his unanimous MVP year.
