Cavs Social Media Team Closes Comments on Isaiah Thomas Birthday Post

In January, the Cleveland Cavaliers' social media team posted a photo wishing forward Ante Zizic a happy birthday on Instagram.

A few days before that, the team gave LeBron James the same treatment.

It's something simple and nice the Cavs do for all their players. On Wednesday, guard Isaiah Thomas, who is in his first year with Cleveland, got his own happy-birthday post.

Something was out of the ordinary with this post, though: The Cavs' social media disallowed Instagram users from commenting on the photo of Thomas.

Why? Well, probably because Thomas would have seen a lot of this under a photo that was posted to bring him joy:

The reason for the hate, of course, is that people have blamed Thomas for the Cavs' struggles this season. Though the squad has won the Eastern Conference three consecutive times, that streak looks very much in jeopardy.

The Celtics—who traded Thomas to the Cavs this past offseason in a deal involving Kyrie Irving—and Raptors have looked like the class of the East. The Cavs, at 30-22, are 7.5 games out of the top seed.

Look, there's no reason to panic—the Cavs still have King James, for goodness' sake. He might be able to win the conference on his own. And things with Thomas will probably click at some point...probably.

At the very least, let's agree to let this man enjoy his birthday. No more roasting Isaiah Thomas on social media today.
