J.K. Rowling Apologizes for Killing Off This Character on Battle of Hogwarts Anniversary

It's the anniversary of Battle of Hogwarts and J.K. Rowling has some apologizing to do.

"It's that anniversary again," she tweeted. "This year, I apologise for killing someone who didn't die during the #BattleofHogwarts, but who laid down his life to save the people who'd win it. I refer, of course, to Dobby the house elf."

Dobby entered the series as the ever-apologetic house elf who was being abused by his owners, the Malfoy family, in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Harry later saved Dobby by tricking Lucius Malfoy into freeing the half-elf. Throughout the rest of the series, Dobby became a loyal companion to Harry and the crew. He later lays down his life for them in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Dobby isn't the only character Rowling has apologized for killing off on the fateful day of May 2. She's also apologized for killing Severus Snape, Remus Lupin, and Fred Weasley.

When Rowling is not apologizing to her fans, she's working on the Fantastic Beasts' next installment, The Crimes of Grindelwald, which will be adding Jessica Williams to the cast, almost making all those #BlackHogwarts dreams come true.
