The Ghost in the Shell debuts on July 7, streaming exclusively on Prime Video worldwide (except in either Russia or China). It will also air in Japan on Kanai TV and Fui TV. New episodes of the anime will come out every Tuesday at 11 PM JST.
According to Bandai Namco Filmworks, the series will follow Motoko Kusanagi, “a full-body cyborg” who “leads an elite unit of fellow cyborgs.”
“As they confront complex cyber-crimes and international conspiracies, the existence of a mysterious, unidentified hacker known as ‘The Puppet Master’ emerges on the horizon of their investigation,” the synopsis continues. “What fate awaits Kusanagi? And what is the Puppet Master’s true objective? A new era of cyberpunk action begins.”
Fans are excited for the upcoming The Ghost in the Shell adaptation because it’s believed to be much more faithful to the original as opposed to previous adaptations that all took significant creative liberties.
