Brazilian football player Jorge Luiz Frello Filho Cavaliere OMRI, who’s known as Jorginho, has released a new statement about Chappell Roan — now claiming, contrary to his initial statements — that she didn’t have anything to do with the security guard who harassed his wife and step-daughter at a hotel following the singer’s performance at Lollapalooza Brazil.

Jorginho shared a lengthy message about the situation, revealing that he’s learned new information about what happened that has changed his understanding of what went on.

"I would like to give an update on what happened during [Lollapalooza Brazil] weekend, as we have been seeing and hearing a lot over the past few weeks and felt it was important to clarify everything now that new information has come to light," he began, before admitting that his “initial statement” was because he “reacted as any father would.”

Jorginho continued, claiming that Roan reached out to the family to talk about the situation, and based on what he learned, it "became clear that she had no knowledge of what took place at breakfast and has not asked anyone to approach them."

The soccer star noted that Roan "was understanding and sympathetic to what had happened to our child.” Jorginho also clarified that the security guard who was involved in the incident “has since confirmed publicly that he was representing another artist at the hotel at the time."

"While we still do not know what prompted him to approach them, and do not believe an 11-year-old at breakfast could reasonably be seen as any kind of security threat, it is now clear that he was not acting on behalf of Chappell,” Jorginho concluded.

After calling the incident a “misunderstanding,” Joringho revealed that he regretted the impact had on Roan and his family. He ended the message by saying that he does "not support or encourage hate speech or online attacks from any side," presumably addressing the backlash that Roan has been receiving.

Last month, Jorginho shared the situation on Instagram, claiming that Roan’s security guard got aggressive with his wife and step-daughter after the latter smiled at her at a hotel. In his initial post, Jorginho wrote that his daughter was “extremely shaken” by the incident and he chastized Roan for not being able to handle fame.

The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Cavaliere, later banned Roan from performing at the city’s Todo Mundo no Rio concert series because of what happened.

Roan ended up addressing the situation on her Instagram Stories, saying that “It’s unfair for security to assume someone doesn’t have good intentions.”

“I didn't even see a woman and a child,” she said. “Like, I did not. No one came up to me. No one bothered me."
