Updated 3/21/2026 10 p.m. ET: Eduardo Cavaliere, mayor of Rio de Janeiro, announced that Chappell Roan is banned from performing at Todo Mundo no Rio, a series of concerts promoted by the city, during his tenure after Jorginho’s complaints against the singer’s security.
In a post made on X, Cavaliere wrote, “I mean that as long as I’m in charge of our city - this young lady @ChappellRoan will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio! I doubt that Shakira @shakira @Shakira_brasil would do that! By the way, @FrelloJorginho your little one is already the guest of honor from the organization in May!”
The soccer star acknowledged the post, responding with heart emojis. Roan has not responded to the accusations.

Chappell Roan’s security is facing backlash after a soccer player shared an aggressive interaction experienced at a hotel.
Brazilian football player Jorge Luiz Frello Filho Cavaliere OMRI, who’s known as Jorginho and plays for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Flamengo, took to his Instagram Story to share an experience that his wife alleged happened to her and their daughter.
“I went through a very upsetting situation with my family earlier today,” he wrote. “My wife is in São Paulo for (Lollapalooza). This morning, my daughter woke up incredibly excited, she even made a sign because she was so happy to see an artist she really admires, or used to admire.”
After tagging Roan, Jorginho continued his story. “By coincidence, they’re staying at the same hotel as this artist. During breakfast, the artist walked past their table. My daughter, like any child, recognized her, got excited, and just wanted to make sure it was really her.”
“And the worst part is she didn’t even approach her. She simply walked past the singer’s table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum,” Jorginho explained. “She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything.”
Jorginho called what happened next “completely disproportionate”: he alleges that a security guard got aggressive with his wife and daughter, telling his wife that she shouldn’t let her daughter “disrespect” or “harass” other people. The soccer player claimed that the security guard announced he’d file a complaint to the hotel against them.
After saying that his daughter was “extremely shaken” by the incident, Jorginho explained that after experiencing fame and public exposure over the years because of playing football, he knows what respect and boundaries are.
“It’s sad to see this kind of treatment coming from those who should understand the importance of fans,” he wrote. “At the end of the day, they are the ones who build all of this. I sincerely hope this serves as a moment of reflection. No one should have to go through this, especially not a child.”
While what happened sounds completely over-the-top and not justified, Roan has been very candid about what she considers to be concerning behavior involving fan interactions with her.
In 2024, she shared a lengthy note on Instagram to her fans that gave specific instructions about what she wanted them to stop doing to her. “For the past 10 years I’ve been going non-stop to build my project and it’s come to the point that I need to draw lines and set boundaries. I want to be an artist for a very very long time,” Roan wrote. “I’ve been in too many nonconsensual physical and social interactions and I just need to lay it out and remind you, women don’t owe you shit. I chose this career path because I love music and art and honoring my inner child, I do not accept harassment of any kind because I chose this path, nor do I deserve it.”
“When I’m on stage, when I’m performing, when I’m in drag, when I’m at a work event, when I’m doing press…I am at work. Any other circumstances, I am not in work mode,” she added. “I am clocked out. I don’t agree with the notion that I owe a mutual exchange of energy, time, or attention to people I do not know, do not trust, or who creep me out—just because they’re expressing admiration. Women do not owe you a reason why they don’t want to be touched or talked to.”
Elsewhere in the lengthy message, Roan got specific about what she didn’t want to experience. “Please stop touching me. Please stop being weird to my family and friends. Please stop assuming things about me. There is always more to the story. I am scared and tired. And please—don’t call me Kayleigh. I feel more love than I ever have in my life. I feel the most unsafe I have ever felt in my life,” she wrote. “Thank you for reading this. I appreciate your understanding and support.”
