Former Disney actor Matt Prokop has been arrested on multiple charges, including a second-degree felony count of possession of child pornography.
The 35-year-old actor, who starred in High School Musical 3: Senior Year, was arrested on December 24 in Victoria County, Texas. He was booked at the Victoria County jail on four misdemeanors: one count of evading arrest or detention, one count of violating a bond or protective order, two counts of resisting arrest, search, or transportation, and one felony charge for possession of child pornography.
Authorities say the arrest stems from an alleged violation of bond conditions tied to a previous arrest in 2024. In May of that year, Prokop was arrested on assault charges for allegedly pushing his girlfriend and slamming her head into something. When he was taken into custody, police claimed that he attempted to pull away from them and flee, leading to him being charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
Prokop’s troubles came years after his relationship with actor Sarah Hyland, who has accused him of verbal and physical abuse. Hyland claimed that he slammed her into a vehicle and choked her in 2014 during an argument. Later that summer, Prokop allegedly threatened to kill Hyland’s dog and burn down her house after their breakup.
In a 2024 interview with Variety, Hyland spoke about the impact that the relationship has had on her. "I don’t know if that part [of] any woman will ever be fully healed from that," said Hyland. "It’s something that kind of scars her soul a little bit. It’s more so putting love towards that scar instead of hating it and ignoring it."
