Anne Hathaway has announced that she’s expecting her third child with an adorable video shared on Instagram.
On June 19, Hathaway revealed that she and her husband, Adam Shulman, are expecting with a clip in which she walks into frame with her arms folded across her midsection, then drops them to reveal her bump. The actress then flashes a wide smile, hugs her stomach, and runs playfully out of frame. The clip was captioned "x Baby, I'm yours x" and set to Barbara Lewis's 1965 classic "Baby, I'm Yours."
Hathaway told People earlier this year why she announces her pregnancies online, saying the decision was spurred on by a situation where a paparazzi caught her at an inopportune moment.
"Basically, I saw someone was taking photos of me, and I think at that point, people kind of knew I was pregnant," she said. "I think there were some street shots where you're just like, 'Eh, just had a big meal.' But I was just like, 'Ok, this is going to happen now.'"
She recalled talking the decision over with Shulman before she posted.
"‘Maybe this is a good use for social media,’" she recalled saying to him.
The actress continued: "If it's going to happen anyway, maybe I can put something out that feels more personal and that comes from me as opposed to it having to be this thing that happens outside of me. I got to make the announcement myself. It was really, really cool."
Hathaway’s latest pregnancy has been quietly underway for some time. A source told People that she "did her entire 'Devil Wears Prada 2' tour around the world quietly pregnant.”
The new arrival will join sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.
In a 2024 Vanity Fair interview, Hathaway revealed that her miscarriage, which happened the year before Jonathan was born, took place while she was acting as a pregnant woman during a six-week run of the acclaimed Broadway show Grounded. The actress explained that she had to “give birth onstage every night.”
“It was too much to keep it in when I was onstage pretending everything was fine,” Hathaway said, adding that when friends visited her backstage, she told them what happened to her. “I had to keep it real otherwise,” she added.
