Anne Hathaway has taken a moment to address rumors that she's undergone plastic surgery.
The 43-year-old actor discussed the gossip in a new interview with Elle. "We’re at a time when people feel very confident in assuming what they think is fact, and sometimes what they think is accurate, and sometimes it's not," Hathaway said after she was asked if her viral Oscars braid tutorial was a way to dead the rumors.
"The speculation has gotten so loud that you do feel the need to just get your truth out there," she continued. "And I’ll probably always wonder, 'Should I have posted that or not? Should I have just kept going and done the thing that makes me happy and makes me feel more confident on the red carpet?' But I felt like the conversation was becoming distracting."
"Also, by the way, these are huge medical decisions that people are presuming," she added. "I wanted to show that like, no, I didn’t make a huge medical decision. It’s just two braids."
She then disclosed that she "might still get a facelift someday."
In March, the Devil Wears Prada 2 star shared a clip of her Oscars glam, in which her hairstylist, Orlando Pita, revealed the two small braids on either side of her head, which, when pulled back, created a lifting effect without surgery.
"And you look a little bit more awake," Hathaway said, laughing, "That’s the trick."
The Devil Wears Prada sequel, in which Hathaway stars alongside Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, arrived earlier this month and was a huge box-office success.
The film grossed $76.7 million at the domestic box office, surpassing the original film's 2006 opening of $27.5 million. Worldwide, the offering earned $156.6 million during its opening weekend, for a grand total of $233.6 million.
