The average person's dream of showing up to work the same way Matt Lauer allegedly shows up to Today every morning is closer than ever to reality. Uber has teamed up with Airbus to launch a test program that provides helicopter rides on demand via the same app used for that outdated mode of transportation known as driving, Mashable reports.
"It's a pilot project," Airbus CEO Tom Enders told the Wall Street Journal on Sunday. "We’ll see where it goes—but it’s pretty exciting." The trial program will reportedly kick off during the forthcoming Sundance Film Festival, presumably because no form of advertisement is quite as good as a bunch of actors ordering helicopter rides on their phone during one of the most prestigious film festivals on the planet.
For those baffled and generally unconvinced by the increasingly popular on-demand helicopter industry, look no further than Pope Francis' recent New York City excursion. Blade, the so-called "Uber of helicopters," helped would-be traffic jam victims avoid the tomfoolery by simply flying over it.
Don't let Matt Lauer maintain his monopoly over the ride-to-work-in-a-helicopter industry.
