Tyler, The Creator Featured in New 'Marty Supreme' Trailer Starring Timothée Chalamet

Tyler previously said he was "beyond grateful" to director Josh Safdie for the opportunity.

Marty Supreme, bolstered by what has arguably been the most intriguing film rollout of the year, is giving us the deepest look yet at what Josh Safdie and company have in store come Christmas Day.

On Tuesday (Nov. 11), A24 rolled out the first full-length trailer for the Timothée Chalamet-led film, which held a surprise screening at the 63rd New York Film Festival in October. At that screening, Chalamet’s fellow cast member Tyler Okonma—a.k.a. 2026 Grammys nominee Tyler, The Creator—let the audience know just how “grateful” he was for the opportunity to be part of such a highly anticipated feature.

“Thank you to you, Josh. Please make the biggest noise for this man,” Tyler said at the time. “I’m so grateful, beyond grateful. I play piano and put on cool clothes. I do not act at all. This man is so good that I trusted him and said, ‘Anything you need. I don’t want to read this script. I will show up and be there.’ Because I trust this man and the way he curated and handled every detail. And the team, working with y’all, it was so wonderful. I got emotional up there because you gave me a chance, so I thank you, I love you, and thank you. Please give it up.”

Marty Supreme hits theaters on Dec. 25. See the just-released trailer up top, soundtracked by the Tears for Fears classic “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.” Joining Timothée and Tyler in the cast are Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, Fran Drescher, Luke Manley, and Koto Kawaguchi.

Chalamet, who plays the greatness-obsessed Marty Mauser in Safdie’s new film, has been taking the performance art rollout while promoting the A24 title. In a recent piece premiered via Vogue, co-directed by Chalamet and Aidan Zamiri, the two-time Oscar nominee and Dune franchise alum put that pursuit front and center with an eight-minute (and somewhat Frank Ocean-esque) video that featured him repeatedly shouting “best in the world!”

In a previous stream, Chalamet was flanked by a group of individuals fittingly adorned in table tennis ball-shaped head gear.

“Everything in my life is falling apart,” Chalamet’s Marty says in the new trailer, which notably features the most in-depth look yet at how Tyler’s character factors into the story of ping-pong glory.

“The mouse is back, baby!” Tyler’s character shouts at one point, all while he and Marty are in the middle of celebrating an apparent victory, cash in hand.

Later, the two are seen dancing alongside a moving car, having abandoned the steering wheel for a shared moment of elation.

With his palette-expanding turn in Marty Supreme, Tyler is closing out a decidedly strong year. Just this month, he received multiple Grammy nominations, both for his 2024 album CHROMAKOPIA and this year’s DON’T TAP THE GLASS. The former is up for Album of the Year alongside projects from Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Clipse, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, and Leon Thomas.
