'The Odyssey' Starring Matt Damon: Watch New Trailer for Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' Follow-Up

Nolan's IMAX-shot take on the Homer epic hits theaters in July.

The dawn of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, starring Matt Damon, is almost upon us.

Monday (Dec. 22), Universal Pictures gave the first trailer for the filmmaker’s Oppenheimer follow-up a wide release, revealing the closest look yet at what he has in store for his take on the Homer epic.

“After years of war, no one could stand between my men and home,” Damon’s heard saying in the nearly two-minute glimpse at Nolan’s newest opus. “Not even me.”

Damon, who plays Odysseus in the latest from the Dark Knight and Tenet filmmaker, previously worked with Nolan in 2023’s Best Picture winner Oppenheimer and 2014’s Matthew McConaughey-led Interstellar.

Famously, the actor, himself an Oscar winner for his and Ben Affleck’s breakthrough hit Good Will Hunting, had initiated a pause from acting when he was offered a part in the director’s J. Robert Oppenheimer biopic, thus ending his would-be break.

He’s joined in the Odyssey cast by an assembling of fellow Nolan alumni and newcomers alike, including (but not limited to) the following: Anne Hathaway; Tom Holland; Lupita Nyong’o; Robert Pattinson; Zendaya; Mia Goth; Jon Bernthal; Himesh Patel; Benny Safdie; and Charlize Theron.

The Odyssey, filmed entirely on IMAX 70 mm cameras, hits theaters July 17. Catch the new trailer up top.

Nolan isn’t the only giant of the theatrical experience set to drop a new must-see joint in 2026. Steven Spielberg, whose latest finds him returning to the ever-widening topic of extraterrestrial life, will bring us Disclosure Day in June.

Earlier this month, the Amblin co-founder shared a new trailer for what marks his first film in four years. Watch it here.
