Robert Pattinson and Zendaya portray an engaged couple with cold feet in the first trailer for upcoming A24 movie The Drama.
In the teaser for the film, bookstore clerk Emma (Zendaya) and museum director Charlie (Pattinson) take engagement pictures but are visibly uneasy throughout the shoot.
The clip cuts to flashbacks of the couple during happier times, while a voiceover of Charlie calls Emma "beautiful" and someone who "has the best laugh." Emma also tells the photographer about her favorite aspects of her fiancé's personality, calling him "caring" and "understanding."
But as the photographer pushes the couple to smile "naturally," Emma and Charlie struggle to muster signs of happiness. Intercut are intense scenes, including one of Emma taking a swig out of a bottle of brown liquor while in a bridal gown and Charlie's nose being bloodied.
"Remember, you know each other really well," the photographer encourages.
Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli and produced by horror visionary Ari Aster, The Drama focuses on "a happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails."
The film, which also stars Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie, and Hailey Benton Gates, premieres on April 3, 2026.
Additional promotion for the upcoming movie showed a fictional issue of the Boston Globe sharing the "joyous news" of couple's engagement.
The entertainers will return as co-stars in upcoming drama epic The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan.
