'Suicide Squad' Extended Cut Trailer Gives Jared Leto's Joker More Screen Time

A new trailer for the extended cut of 'Suicide Squad' teases more unseen Joker footage.

Did you feel like this year's hella divisive Suicide Squad was a little light on Joker action? You're not alone. Even Oscar-winning 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto seems to agree. The extended cut of David Ayer's blockbuster hears you loud and clear, and is now promising to toss in a little more Joker in its latest trailer.

The trailer, which popped up on Amazon Friday before being spotted by Batman News, teases some previously unseen dialogue between Joker and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and additional scrapped footage. The trailer was most likely released via someone's unfortunate screw-up, as the clip repeatedly states the film is "now" available on Digital HD, despite the fact that today is most definitely not Nov. 15.

But what was with the movie not delivering on its own self-perpetuated Joker hype anyway? According to Leto, there's actually enough scrapped Suicide Squad footage left that one could reasonably stitch it all together into a movie all about the giggling villain. "I think I brought so much to the table in every scene that it's probably more about filtering all of the insanity," Leto toldBBC Radio 1's Edith Bowman in August. "I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there's probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie."

Ayer has also spoken on the potential future of this scrapped footage, though his estimates are much lower. "We have a chunk," Ayer told Collider. "There's definitely over 10 minutes of material on there. But this cut of the movie is my cut. There's no sort of parallel universe version of the movie. The released movie is my cut."
