Sinners made history with Thursday’s unveiling of the 2026 class of Oscars nominees.
With 16 total nods, including Best Picture, Ryan Coogler’s Michael B. Jordan-starring vampire epic now stands as the most-nominated film in Academy history.
What movies had the most nominations in Oscar history?
The previous record was 14, a feat tied by Damien Chazelle’s La La Land in 2017 and shared with two prior nominated films, Titanic and All About Eve.
Among the key nominations for Sinners are Actor in a Leading Role for Jordan, Actor in a Supporting Role for Delroy Lindo, Actress in a Supporting Role for Wunmi Mosaku, and Achievement in Casting for Francine Maisler. Coogler himself, meanwhile, is up for two potential wins as the Warner Bros.-backed title’s writer and director.
In the Best Picture category, Sinners is one of 10 nominated films. Also competing for the Academy’s top honor are Bugonia; F1; Frankenstein; Hamnet; Marty Supreme; One Battle After Another; The Secret Agent; Sentimental Value; and Train Dreams.
