Robert Pattinson Is Chris Hansen in First Teaser Trailer for A24's 'PRIMETIME'

Phoebe Bridgers also stars.

Robert Pattinson stars as To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen in the first teaser trailer for A24’s PRIMETIME.

“Do you watch television?” Pattinson’s Hansen asks in the decidedly ominous minute-long teaser, seen above.

From there, he tells an unknown party, possibly someone set to be featured on the (ultimately canceled) Dateline NBC program, “You’re about to be a part of television history.”

Among those joining Pattinson in the cast for the Lance Oppenheim-directed drama, set for release this fall, is four-time Grammy winner Phoebe Bridgers. Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, and Bokeem Woodbine also star.

To Catch a Predator was a massive success for Hansen and company, first debuting on NBC in late 2004. By late 2006, however, the series had faced scrutiny in connection with the suicide of a sting subject in Texas. The series was discontinued in 2008, though Hansen has launched similar projects in subsequent years.

Press notes released on Wednesday (May 27) alongside the PRIMETIME trailer link the film’s story to 2006, though it wasn’t immediately clear which real-life events, if any, would be depicted.

For Pattinson, the imminent PRIMETIME launch comes amid a particularly busy period, as the consistently compelling actor also has a sequel to The Batman on the horizon, not to mention parts in this year’s Dune: Part Three and The Odyssey.

Last month, he joined fellow Dune and Odyssey star Zendaya for Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama, which proved to be both a critical and commercial hit.
