Orlando Brown is “an unhinged Katt Williams of his generation,” at least according to his former That’s So Raven castmate Raven-Symoné.
Deep into an interview with Scream franchise alum Jamie Kennedy for the Hate to Break It to Ya podcast, originally shared on Nov. 3, Raven noted that she got into the industry knowing that “not every person” she works with would remain in her life forever. At the same time, she was aware that some might.
“I will always be this way with Orlando,” Raven said of her former costar, who has made public remarks about her in the past that were widely headlined. “I think he is one of the funniest people I have ever worked with. I think, even now, he knows exactly what he’s doing. He, to me, is an unhinged Katt Williams of his generation. Unhinged. Not you, Katt. You’re hinged and I love for you it. He’s smart.”
Raven went on to say that she knows “Orlando’s history,” but suggested that speaking publicly about it was not something she’s interested in doing. She also somewhat agreed with Kennedy’s wrestling term analogy, namely that Brown entered a so-called “heel” era at a certain point in his career.
“I think he is in his attack era,” she added. “That’s why I do not combat Orlando, because some of the things that he says I’m not mad at him for. … Listen, you have to know how to bait people in this industry, then say the truth, and then leave on a button. I think he does that perfectly.”
As Raven sees it, Orlando is “doing the job right,” meaning she’s “not mad” at him.
“Just keep my name out your mouth,” she said, later adding that “some of the stuff he says is real,” though she did not elaborate further.
Raven has spoken about Orlando in the past, including earlier this year when she called him a “comedic genius” while declining to confirm or deny specific claims made by her former costar. Years earlier, Brown alleged that he and Raven had been involved in a romantic relationship.
More recently, Brown, also known for his roles in Major Payne and The Jamie Foxx Show, made headlines for his involvement with an Arizona-based chicken franchise endeavor. Dubbed Orlando Brown’s Million Dollar Chicken, the company’s stated aim is to become “the biggest chicken franchise in [the] world.”
