Quentin Tarantino Reveals Why That 'Luke Cage' Movie Never Happened

The word "bod" somehow has something to do with it.

Without question, a Quentin Tarantino-helmed Luke Cage movie would have been a visual feast. Sadly, the movie gods ultimately took that joy away from us before ultimately delivering Pulp Fiction many eons ago back in 1994. In a new interview on the Nerdist podcast, Tarantino opened up a bit more about the ultimate decay of his passion for a Luke Cage cinematic romp. Remarkably enough, Tarantino manages to say the word "bod" more than once.

"In the case of Luke Cage, it was my comic geek friends that almost talked me out of it, because I thought [Laurence] Fishburne back in the day would’ve been a great Luke Cage, and they were talking about Wesley Snipes," Tarantino says, as transcribed by Blastr. "I could see them both, but it was like ‘I think [Fishburne] would be better.’ And they go ‘Yeah… he could work out and everything, but he doesn’t have the bod that Wesley Snipes has, and Luke Cage needs to have the bod."

Ultimately, this bod debate wasn't exactly Tarantino's cup of tea:

Marvel's Luke Cage, of course, is now a part of the Netflix family and will surely be a smashing success. However, getting lost in a daydream about a Tarantino take on the Cage saga is still a wonderful pastime.
